James Corden in tears after singing 'Let It Be' with Paul McCartney
James Corden tears up as he sings the Beatles' hit "Let It Be" alongside Paul McCartney. The performance takes place in the latest episode of Carpool Karaoke, Corden's segment on The Late Late Show.
"Oh man, I'm getting so emotional," James says after the two have finished singing, wiping away tears (video: see below). "I didn't see that coming. I remember my grandpa, who was a musician, and my dad sitting next to me and saying, 'We're going to play you the best song ever.' And I remember them playing this song," James then explained. "If my grandpa had been here, he would have loved it," the presenter continued, tears welling in his eyes.

In the car with James, Paul also explained how he got the inspiration to write "Let It Be." "I had a dream in the '60s about my mother who died. She came to me and told me everything would be okay and that I should let it go," the singer said. "She gave me these positive words, and I woke up and wondered, 'What was that? What did she say? Let it be?' I'd never heard of it. It sounded good. So that's how I wrote "Let It Be."
Carpool Karaoke with Paul McCartney concluded a special British week of The Late Late Show. James Corden hosted his program last week from London instead of Los Angeles.
