Tiny Desk Concert: Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals
The first Tiny Desk Concert came about in 2008 after Boilen and NPR Music editor Stephen Thompson left a gig at the bar in frustration because they couldn't hear the music over the crowd's noise. Thompson joked that musician, folk singer Laura Gibson, should perform at Boilen's desk. A month later, Boilen arranged for her to do just that, and an impromptu recording was made and posted online. This was the beginning of many wonderful concerts.
