At a time when all the mysteries of the record world seemed to have been solved, albums like this renew your faith in the essential impossibility of ever knowing everything about the music of the past. No credits are given for the primarily instrumental tracks, and the track listings on the cover don't quite match the songs featured on the record. It's fairly certain this is Jamaican ska from the mid-1960s, likely originally produced for Top Deck Records.
If you relax, stop worrying about who did what, and just listen to the music, it's good ska, with plenty of the driving rhythms and acid horns that are considered the style's most appealing attributes. The best track (an educated guess would attribute it to the Gaytones) is the vocal "Wings of a Dove"; with its irresistibly upbeat melody, it would deserve a place on any anthology of the greatest ska hits of all time.
